About Us
Soundararaja Vidyalaya was founded in June 1988 through the munificence of Soundararaja Charities Trust, Dindigul. The Vidyalaya is situated on a sprawling campus of over 29 acres, 5 km away from Dindigul town, suited to a peaceful learning environment.
It has classes from Pre.KG to class XII and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, for Secondary and Senior Secondary Courses.
The Vidyalaya aims at imparting comprehensive education conducive to an all-round development of the personality of the child, worthy of esteem by self and society. It encourages desirable attitudes so that they become good citizens with healthy social, secular, moral and democratic values to further consolidate our composite culture.
It provides an effective and interesting learning experience by adopting modern educational technology. The play way method of learning, in its real sense, is the experience given to tiny tots. Multisensory learning and differentiated individualised programmes take care in particular, of varied aptitudes, styles of learning and levels of learning ability in every child.
Vidyalaya leaves no stone unturned to cater to the needs of both advanced and children who need extra help. Adopting varied teaching methods, Vidyalaya ensures an inclusive academic atmosphere. Co-curricular and Extracurricular activities followed, pave the way for holistic development of the child. It also promotes the critical and reflective skills among them. This moulds them into refined personalities. A flexible curriculum is periodically reviewed and updated by the management. It has been developed keeping in mind, current trends in education and the development level of children at each age group.
Vidyalaya nurtures inclusiveness and encourages close interaction among students belonging to diverse social and economic backgrounds. The day boarding system in effect since inception serves as a platform for teachers and students to sit together eat and exchange ideas and understand each other well.
Sports and games form an important part of students’ life. This has been included in the school routine to promote good health, self-confidence and team spirit, besides imparting skills in them in various sports activities. Inter-House competitions are an integral part of the Co-curricular activities and are held throughout the year to promote House spirit and sportsmanship apart from rendering great stature and responsibility. Trekking, Cycle Expedition, Open House Competitions, Camp Fire, Skill Exhibition etc. are some of the most popular Extracurricular activities of the school.
There are eight buses to take care of the transport needs of children and staff in a very comfortable way. The Vidyalaya strives to educate and prepare every child to face the world and inculcate in them a sense of Responsibility, Humility, Culture and Moral Values required for life. Students who emerge out of the portals of the Vidyalaya serve the nation by becoming Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers and Professionals in various streams.
Vidyalaya received the ISO-certification in the year 2016 and also the International School Award (2016-19) for OUTSTANDING DEVELOPMENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION IN THE CURRICULUM by The British Council.
Managing Trustee’s Message
Soundararaja Vidyalaya was established in 1988 by our Founder Chairman Mr. N.SOUNDARAJAN. His ardent desire was to primarily enable the children of Dindigul to enjoy an all-round education of excellent quality, in no way less enviable than their more fortunate counterparts in prominent Day Schools of cities and well-regarded Boarding Schools. In order to provide this judicious mix of wholesome academic and pastoral care the Vidyalaya was conceived to be one on a very large campus of more than 29 acres, facilitating not only well-provided separate buildings for various academic and non-academic programmes but also large play fields for a number of indoor and outdoor games, athletic provisions and other needs. Added to these was the pioneering concept of a Day Boarding System where the entire school community has lunch. These were so carefully crafted to help children have a longer day with ease, happiness and nourishment to meet not only routine classroom transactions but also an inbuilt daily provision of supervised study, remedial programmes, daily games, special coaching and an array of Interest, Co-curricular and Extracurricular programmes. These efforts are well augmented by highly motivated and competent staff members and best enablers of the learning experience in the form of digital learning supplements, laboratories and activity centres. The excellent Class X and XII Board Examination results year after year and the accolades children earn at District, State, Regional and National levels in a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular pursuits bear ample testimony to the fact that the objectives of the founder are being well realised all these 37 years since the inception of the Vidyalaya. I am sure Team SRV will continue its onward march, with many more admirable turning points as the years roll by.
The Vidyalaya is an ISO-certified institution and has also received the International School Award from The British Council.
